Checking out Mont Boron

There is a place that we're considering as our potential next home. It's high up in the Mont Boron district (away from artisan boulangeries - :( ). So today we took a walk up the hill to check it out & discovered that spring has arrived in Nice. The Mont Boron forest-park is full of bright yellow flowers and wilted hyacinths. It certainly makes sense that Queen Victoria used to spend winters in Nice.

Going down we took a dramatic shortcut going from Mont Boron to the Port area, which takes about 10 minutes, at least to get to Coco Beach. Not so sure about the way up. It's a scenic work-out opportunity for sure.

  1. Beautiful juxtaposition: Mont Boron hills and the port area. Love the photos. Looking at the photo taken in the hills, makes me think that there must be an outdoors equipment store somewhere in Nice, maybe not in the artisan boulangerie district, where Kai can find some outdoorsy shoes; or all of you for that matter. But, hey, it’s always good for a laugh when seeing you guys in city slicker shoes no matter what outdoor activity you’re pursuing. Do I remember your Alpental Snow Lake winter hike ? Sure do!

  2. Maybe it's us, but it does feel so comfortable hiking mountains in heels, long skirts and flowing capes...ok, I'm kidding about the capes part. And we do have full gear outdoor equipment sitting somewhere in a box. We should be reunited with our stuff soon. I hope.

  3. Frank and I have reluctantly come in off the Sound! Sun shimmering on placid water. Silence broken only by the gulls, cormorants and loons. Mt. Rainier, Washington and Elinore snowcapped and standing proud. It doesn't get any better than this....unless you can winter in NIce!!

If you settle in that lovely spot on Mt. Boron, will they let we "ugly Americans" visit?

  4. Ila, I see you are sharing my favorite activity picking up the flowers. All is golden, the girls and the flowers in one union. Grandma
